IATSE 122 proudly represents the hardworking Audio-Visual Technicians across San Diego’s top hotels, including the Hilton Bayfront, Marriott Marquis, Manchester Grand Hyatt, and the soon-to-open Gaylord Pacific. 122 Stagehands drive Encore Global’s massive profits—yet we are locked in a brutal fight for a fair contract
In February 2022, after a hard-fought organizing campaign during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Encore workers won their first union contract. But now, as we push for a new agreement, Encore is dragging its feet.
Negotiations began in October 2024, and our contract expired on February 21, 2025. In that time, Encore has only offered an abysmal wage increase—a disgraceful offer that shows blatant disregard for the very workers who power their success. While workers sacrificed and endured the struggles of an industry shutdown, Encore has raked in record profits. We are the backbone of this company, and we refuse to be undervalued any longer.
Encore Global is backed by Blackstone, a trillion-dollar financial giant—yet they continue to underpay, undervalue, and disrespect the very workers who generate their wealth.
We are standing up and demanding:
✅ Wage parity with the rest of the industry
✅ Dignity and respect in the workplace
✅ An end to the exploitation of skilled labor
This fight is bigger than San Diego. Encore workers nationwide are organizing, and the company is using San Diego as a test case to suppress workers’ rights. But we won’t be intimidated.
San Diego is one of the most expensive cities in the country, yet Encore continues to pay wages that do not reflect the true value of our work. Meanwhile, they charge clients 600% more for our labor than what they actually pay us. If Encore can charge their customers over 600% more for the workers than what the workers are paid, they can afford to pay their workers a living wage.
Encore workers are done being exploited. We demand fair wages, respect, and dignity—nothing less.
We won’t stop fighting until Encore treats its workers like the professionals we are.
We are fed up with the company's contract proposals. We are still far away from where we have to be. So, we have to resort to actions. This was our first action, we will continue and escalate according to how negotiations go. Thank you everyone for the support and solidarity, this is how we win!
Our movement is growing and it that's all because of you. We are getting closer to our demands but we are still far from getting what we deserve. Dignity and Respect is all we are asking for. Check out our latest rally for a fair wage held on 3.25.2025 in San Diego. Thank you again for the amazing turnout. This campaign is only just beginning. WHEN WE FIGHT! WE WIN! Hope you can make it to our next one.
